I started learning how to play guitar about a year ago. A year in, I’m objectively terrible, but I still REALLY like doing it. Why you ask? Because even though I suck, I’m improving. Slowly, but surely – and that improvement motivates me to keep playing. And honestly, sometimes when I finally get something that I’ve been struggling to learn, it makes me feel powerful. It makes a weird energy course through my body, and I like that. I can’t imagine what Eddie Van Halen must have felt when he played. If I had chops like that, I’d have lightning bolts shooting out of my ears.
While SplooshDaPool isn’t any where close to as challenging to learn as guitar is, it does take some time and practice to get things working right, and just like playing guitar, I enjoyed it even when I wasn’t great at it. It made me feel powerful. It still makes me feel powerful.
Being bad at something is the only way to not be bad at something – don’t be afraid to suck for a while. With SplooshDaPool or anything else!
Be well!
